Your First Visit

Patient Information

Your initial consultation establishes the foundation of your personalized treatment plan.  It involves completing paperwork (if you have not already done so online), discussing your condition with Dr. Ball, and may include treatment.  Throughout this visit, your comfort and wellbeing are our top priority.

IF YOU HAVE A PATIENT ACCOUNT YOU MAY LOG IN HERE

BEFORE YOUR CONSULTATION

Please provide the following information at the time of your initial visit:

  • Your endodontic referral slip, if one was provided by your general dentist
  • A list of medications you are taking
  • Your dental insurance card

Please alert us if you have a medical condition that may be of concern (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.).

All patients under the age of 18 require the presence of a parent or guardian during the consultation visit.

MEETING OUR ASSISTANT

After you check in, you’ll meet with one of our friendly dental assistants who will ask you about your pain and the dental issue that brought you to our office.  If appropriate, a 3D radiograph (CBCT) will be taken.

MEETING DR. BALL

After the radiographs are complete, Dr. Ball will review them with you and discuss your symptoms.  Dr. Ball will test the affected tooth or teeth, along with adjacent teeth.  This will often include gentle tapping.

When testing is complete, Dr. Ball will make a diagnosis and discuss the treatment options that best fit your individual needs.  These may include a root canal and a crown (placed by your general dentist) to protect the treated tooth.  Dr. Ball will discuss the benefits and risks associated with each option.

ENDODONTIC TREATMENT

If you choose to go forward with endodontic treatment, we may begin the process right away, but in many cases a separate appointment is required.  Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable and efficient as possible, with most procedures taking just a single visit.
